Ilene Abrams - College Counselor
ilene@envisionacademy.org
I joined Envision Academy this year as College Advisor. I am excited to be part of the Envision team because I believe the personal attention and opportunities available to every student and the community approach to teaching and learning, create inspiration and opportunity for success for all students. As a long time resident of Oakland, I’m pleased to work in the city where I live. I believe that there are numerous colleges that are a good fit for each student, where they can get a good education, grow in mind and spirit, and meet teachers and other students who will challenge them and will also become their friends for life.
I previously worked at Berkeley High School which gave me an opportunity to work with hundreds of students from a wide variety of backgrounds each year on their college decision-making process, their applications, and financial aid possibilities. I have served as chair of the St. Mary’s College Fair and am currently a board member of the Common Application. In my years as a private and public school counselor, I have had the opportunity to visit numerous across the country and in Canada.
